About Me
I have four decades of exposure and experience in Information Technology. I have been writing computer programs from the early days of Dos in text based Dbase and Foxpro to the later days of graphical user interface of Windows in PowerBuilder and ASP.Net. I am holding certifications in all the latest cutting edge technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Big Data and Blockchain. It is a fascinating journey where I am observing how technology is shaping our lives and always looking forward to the introduction of another new disruptive technology round the corner.
Developing pioneering applications for banks
I started developing useful application for the bank I was working from the year 1986. Using my previous ten years of operational experience I did not have to do any elaborate system analysis and with my proficiency in programming I was able to roll out one application after the other for this bank. It gave me a great deal of satisfaction to observe that my efforts were well received and they brought about a noticeable change in the day to day operations of the bank. That in itself was a great rewarding experience for me.
IT Audit and IT Security
While developing applications and programming was fun there was another field which was very challenging and which was IT Security. In 1998 I passed the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) examination and started to work as a full time IT Auditor for banks. Later on I worked as an ISO 27001 auditor and in 2021 I passed the NIA (National Information Assurance) examination which Qatar’s standard for IT Security. It is very satisfying to ensure that appropriate controls are in place to ensure that the IT systems work smoothly and the IT environment is safe and dependable.
